2D animation means creating movements using characters & backgrounds in a two-dimensional artistic space. The characters created under 2D animation can move up & down, left & right, but not towards & away from the viewer as in 3D animation. 2D animation uses bitmap and vector graphics to make and edit the animated images and is created using computers and software programs.
The 2D animation industry is gaining good traction in India, where many production companies have started to work on their own content for the TV medium, primarily for the kids’ channels. Also the eLearning industry, which uses 2D animation extensively for its teaching purposes, is going through a boom phase & it has increased the demand as well. Apart from these 2 major industries, the flash gaming portals, advertisements & internet content videos have made the career option of 2D animator very lucrative.
Our 2D animation course has been designed in such a comprehensive manner that it covers every single aspect of animation like Drawing, Storyboarding, Digital painting, Creating Walk-cycles, Colour theory, Pre-production, Adding effects, Audio & Video editing etc. The biggest highlight of the course is that we have also included the Graphic designing curriculum as a part of it, thereby offering another avenue for the student as a job option.
At Web D School, we are involved in so many live projects, & most animation students are offered an opportunity to work in them as part of their portfolio. We also arrange Seminars by Industry experts, Regular workshops & contests to keep our students updated about the latest trends & techniques being followed in the industry.
They say ‘50% of a film is made in the editing table’ & it’s totally true. The editor plays a huge role in making the final output, be it a film or music video or advertisement, look great.
A film or video editor is responsible for gathering recorded raw material into a fine finished product that’s appropriate for broadcasting. The raw material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and visual effects.
Editing is another profession that is gaining recognition with the creative youth today. As an industry too, Editing has evolved greatly in the last few years with lots of jobs created in new domains like Television channels, Web TV, Corporate videos, Internet content providing companies etc.
Avid & FCP are the 2 editing software that we teach at Web D School. We follow an industry relevant & updated curriculum & also organize seminars and workshops regularly, which would be conducted by the experts from the postproduction studios.

Animation is the process of creating the impression of movement and shape change by means of the swift display of a series of static images that minimally vary from each other. There are 2 types of animation – 2D animation & 3D animation.
In 2D animation we create movements using characters & backgrounds in a two-dimensional artistic space, whereas in 3D animation the creation of moving pictures is in a three-dimensional digital environment, which is done by sequencing successive images, or “frames”, that simulate movement by each image showing the next in a balanced progression of steps, filmed by a virtual “camera” and then output to video by a rendering engine.
The animation industry in India has been growing at a breakneck speed every year, with many animation studios & production houses packed with jobs, be it outsourced from international studios or in-house projects for Indian market.
